far field is a collaborative web-XR and VR experience that transforms pandemic-era Zoom interactions and personal recordings into an embodied virtual archive, exploring distance, perception, and fragmented presence across shared digital space.
Created during a period of enforced physical separation, the work draws on recorded movement, voice, and image gathered through remote collaboration to construct a virtual environment where those traces of presence can be re-inhabited and encountered anew. The piece investigates how affect and embodied experience persist — and change — when mediated through networked technologies.
Movement was captured using custom markerless motion capture tools developed in response to pandemic conditions, when Optitrack and other marker-based systems were inaccessible.
far field was presented at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of National Dance Day.
