Molt is an immersive video installation created in collaboration with Shawn Escarciga, presented at MIX NYC 2015: The New York Queer Experimental Film Festival. Drawing on the biological metaphor of molting — the violent and tender process by which a creature sheds its former self to become something new — the work uses layered video projection and spatial sound to create an environment of transformation, vulnerability, and emergence.
The installation invites viewers into a space where identity is not fixed but perpetually in process: dissolving, accumulating, and reconstituting. Projected imagery cycles through states of exposure and concealment, foregrounding the body as a site of becoming rather than being.
